Ramadan and Revelation – an Invitation
A space to reflect on facets of being – drawing from the Qur’an and heritage of the Ahl ul-Bayt.
The Muhammadi Trust is a charitable endowment that promotes Islamic spirituality and Self-Knowledge based on Prophetic traditions.
It publishes books, holds seminars and encourages contributions from established scholars that prioritise the universal and transformative nature of the Prophetic message; that in understanding the true nature of our own selves through outer practice and inner reflection, we learn to fulfil our real purpose in creation.
I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me. (Quran 51:56)
He who knows himself knows his Lord – Prophet Muhammed (saw)
How could I worship Him whom I do not know – Imam Ali (as)
The divine message of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was conveyed through the revelation of the holy Quran, his traditions, his perfect character and conduct, and the continuation of this transmission through the Ahlul Bayt (as).
”If the heart is sound, then the whole body is sound; if the heart is sick, then the whole body is sick” – Prophet Muhammad (from The Prophetic Traditions in Islam)
Al-Sadiq (as) said, “Surely the heart is constantly murmuring in the recess of the body, demanding the Truth; if the Truth reaches it, then it finds ease and rest.” (from The Prophetic Traditions in Islam)
In a time of major global upheaval and uncertainty, it is our sincere and humble aim, God willing, to promote these teachings of Islam that bring with them the pathway to the perfect balance of inner light and tranquillity with outer practices and courtesies.
The Muhammadi Trust has been in existence for more than four decades. During the early seventies, the number of Islamic institutions in the West were very few, as was Islamic literature in the English language. With migration from the subcontinent and other parts of the world, creating a growing Muslim population within the UK, there was an evident need for establishments that would serve the community at all levels.
Through inspiration from the late Raja of Mahmudabad, the then Director of the Islamic Centre in Regents Park (which was later built into the present day Regents Park Mosque) and the stewardship of the late Cmdr Qasim Husain as well as from the participation of energetic members of the community, the Muhammadi Trust of Great Britain and Northern Ireland was established.
The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said, “Truly my progeny is like the ark of Noah floating amongst you – whoever embarks thereon
is saved.”
This book comprises a selection of sayings of the Imam, revealing his profound wisdom and far-sighted comprehension of truths on all planes-spiritual and moral, individual and social.

A revered collection of supplications and prayers attributed to Imam Ali ibn Husayn Zayn al-Abidin, the fourth Imam of the Ahl-ul-Bayt. The Sahifa-e-Sajjadiya comprises over 50 supplications with penetrating insights into the psychology of the soul, acute observations of the nature of life in this world, and meditation upon the divine qualities and attributes. In addition, the book contains moral and ethical teachings -the ideal inner and outer courtesy or adab of the Muslim in daily life, with regards to one's self, parents, children, friends and enemies -that are all the more compelling in being presented in the context of a dynamic relationship between the soul and its Creator.
1- In the Name of God, from whom I hope for nothing but bounty, and from whom I fear nothing but justice! I rely only upon His word, And I cling only to His cord!
2- In Thee I seek sanctuary – O Possessor of pardon and good pleasure – from wrong and enmity, from the changes of time and the recurrence of sorrows, from the striking of mishaps, and from the expiration of my term before preparation and readiness.
3- From Thee I seek guidance to that wherein is righteousness and being set right.
4- From Thee I seek help in that which is linked to success and favorable response.
5- Thee I beseech for the garment of well-being and its completion and for the covering of health and its permanence. I seek refuge in Thee, my Lord, from the goadings of the satans, and I seek protection in Thy sovereignty from the inustice of the sovereigns. So accept my past prayers and fasting and make my tomorrow and what is after better than my present hour and my today! Exalt me in my clan and my people and protect me in my waking and my sleeping! For Thou art God, the Best Guardian, And Thou art the Most Merciful of the merciful.
6- O God, I am quit before Thee on this day of mine and on all Sundays that follow it of associating others with Thee and of heresy, and I devote my supplication sincerely to Thee, addressing myself to Thy response.
7- So bless Muhammad and the household of Muhammad, the best of Thy creation, the summoner to Thy truth, exalt me with Thy exaltation, which is never made to suffer loss, protect me with Thy eye, which never sleeps, and seal my affiar by cutting me off from everything but Thee and my life with forgiveness! Surely Thou art the All-forgiving, the All-compassionate!
